Throw in his famous pelvis dance and hysteria follows. Well, those were the days.

Fortunately, many of his concerts are documented and recorded on video. And avid fans, particularly those who are from the current generation, can still view the legend that was Elvis as if he were still making tour performances around the US.

Elvis' Concerts By Location

There are many documented Elvis concerts available in music stores and video shops. As a fan, you have to know the venues where Elvis held concerts before you start a video library of his performances. The following categorizes Elvis' concerts according to major venues in his legendary career.

Early Memphis Performances

The year was 1954 when Elvis started doing concerts. He started out with amateur concerts and benefit performances before he had his first few shows as a professional. Elvis' first concerts early in his career were held in his hometown of Memphis. But it is said that Elvis' real start was when he performed at a high school show a year earlier in 1953.

Elvis' first few performances on stage were held in places like the Bel Air Motel, the Eagle's Nest, and the Bon Air Club; all in Memphis. His growing fame soon took him to other nearby states like Texas, Arkansas, and of course, Louisiana.

Las Vegas Shows

After being busy with other interests like film and recording, Elvis came back to Las Vegas to do a series of annual concerts from 1969 to 1976. His concerts in Las Vegas were always sold out no matter if his performance was fantastic or characterless, which happened occasionally. Elvis' regular performances in Las Vegas were usually held during summer and after the Christmas season.

Lake Tahoe Concerts

Elvis performed in Lake Tahoe intermittently from 1971 to 1976. These live performances were rarely documented and are considered to be rare, very few pictures and recordings from there have been released.

Tour Concerts

Elvis started a series of concert tours beginning in 1970. Beginning from Texas, his concert tours took him to Florida, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and other popular cities in the US. The most famous of these concert tours was Aloha held in Hawaii. His last performance before his death was in Indiana.
